My Writing Samples from TCG
Below is a selection of writing samples and descriptions of my projects with TCG, the leading publisher of dramatic literature in North America and nationally recognized arts organization.
All Marketing Copy for New Titles
I was responsible for all marketing copy concerning the launch of each new title, from the first announcement of publication to the book’s event marketing. Each new release required original back cover copy, which served the dual purpose of the digital marketing copy for the book’s product pages on the TCG website as well as other major online booksellers like Amazon.
Selected copy from recent releases:
The Cherry Orchard adapted by Stephen Karam
Blue Heart by Caryl Churchill
Sweat by Lynn Nottage
Indecent by Paula Vogel
The Detroit Project by Dominique Morisseau
and more.
Book Event SEO Posts
As the coordinator of all book events, I worked on 12-15 book events per year and was therefore tasked with composing the SEO copy for the post-event recaps. In an effort to boost marketing for our author events and drum up excitement for future signings, we launched an initiative to personalize our event stories with exclusive photos and original copy written by me.
Selected samples:
Wallace Shawn at the Drama Book Shop
Double Exposure at Book Culture
Samuel D. Hunter at the Drama Book Shop
TCG at the 2016 Brooklyn Book Festival
and more.
Email Newsletters
Throughout my time with TCG, I served as the Managing Editor of two of the company’s primary monthly e-newsletters: “The Individual Member Wire” & “From the TCG Bookshelf.” Though writing copy was the most extensive responsibility for the newsletters, I was also in charge of building the emails, designing layout, segmenting the audience lists, and tracking send reports.
Selected samples of “From the TCG Bookshelf”:
October 2014 (includes my “Staff Pick” of the month)
December 2015: Holiday Edition
February 2016 (includes my “Staff Pick” of the month)
October 2016: Halloween Edition
and more.
Monthly Staff Picks
As a leading book publisher, TCG had a monthly “Staff Picks” program wherein staff members chose their favorite title and wrote about it. I wrote my own contributions a few times over the years, but my primary role was management of this project: rounding up volunteers each month, copyediting their submissions, and composing the social media posts for Facebook and Twitter.
My content contributions:
The Humans Staff Pick
Cloud 9 Staff Pick
and other submissions under my supervision.
